Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Punjab and IIT Mandi Collaborate in Academics and Research

Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Punjab, which operates under the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi for collaboration in the fields of academics and research.
The MoU was signed by Dr. Ashish Gulia, Director of Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Punjab and Professor Lakshmidhar Behera, Director of IIT Mandi.
On Tuesday, a delegation from IIT Mandi, led by Professor Lakshmidhar Behera, visited the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre located in New Chandigarh.
During a joint discussion in the presence of senior scholars from both institutions, a meaningful conversation took place about the possibilities for collaboration in the health sector and technology fields.
In the discussion, Dr. Ashish Gulia briefed the IIT Mandi team about the medical facilities available at the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital's Punjab and New Chandigarh centers, the institution's achievements, and its contributions to cancer treatment and its activities in the region.
In a statement issued after the MoU, Dr. Ashish Gulia said, "An agreement has been reached to collaborate in academics and joint research between the two institutions, which will promote skill development in the health sector through the use of technology and artificial intelligence."
It is noteworthy that the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Punjab, is an extension of the Tata Memorial Centre in Mumbai, one of India's leading institutions for cancer treatment, which operates under the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India. The hospital in New Chandigarh was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 24, 2022.
