New Delhi, June 6, 2025 – In a significant step toward expanding healthcare services, the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) on Thursday dedicated a state-of-the-art PET Scan Centre at Gurdwara Bangla Sahib's Guru Harkrishan Polyclinic. The facility was inaugurated by DSGMC President Harmeet Singh Kalka as a tribute to the martyrs of the 1984 Operation Bluestar on its 41st anniversary.
Before the formal launch, DSGMC office bearers led by Kalka performed an ardaas (prayer) at Gurdwara Bangla Sahib to mark the solemn occasion. Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Kalka said the dedication of the centre on June 6 serves as a message to the world: “The more Sikhs are suppressed, the higher they rise—but always in the spirit of selfless service.”
He emphasized that the Sikh community, despite facing historical injustices, remains committed to serving humanity. “This centre is a tribute to 21st-century martyrs and a reaffirmation of our faith in seva (service). We pray no one ever has to use this machine, but if needed, it will be there—accessible to all, regardless of caste, creed, or background,” he added.
The PET Scan Centre, which is crucial for early cancer detection, will offer services at highly subsidized rates to ensure affordability. Kalka expressed gratitude to Baba Bachan Singh and Baba Satnam Singh of Kar Sewa for constructing the infrastructure, and to the donor family who contributed ₹10 crore for the PET scan machine.
Kalka also acknowledged the efforts of former DSGMC President and current Delhi Cabinet Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa for his role in initiating healthcare services at the polyclinic, including free dialysis and low-cost MRI scans. Sirsa, who was present at the event, said, “I'm proud to see the expansion of the services that began during my tenure. This initiative continues to benefit thousands.”
DSGMC General Secretary Jagdeep Singh Kahlon also addressed the gathering, reiterating the Committee's commitment to inclusive and affordable healthcare for all.
