Special Training on Antenatal Care and Family Planning Provided to Aam Aadmi Clinic Doctors
– Punjab Government’s Focus on Reducing Maternal and Infant Mortality Rates
Fazilka, 15 June, 2025: In a dedicated effort to strengthen maternal healthcare and improve access to family planning services, the Punjab Government organized a special training workshop for doctors posted at Aam Aadmi Clinics. The session was held at the Civil Surgeon’s office in Fazilka and saw active participation from doctors representing various clinics across the district.
Deputy Commissioner Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu was present as the chief guest and emphasized the vital role Aam Aadmi Clinics play in providing essential healthcare to the community. She stated that this targeted training would significantly benefit expectant mothers and enhance the overall quality of health services in the region.
During the workshop, the doctors received hands-on guidance on comprehensive antenatal care, including the importance of four essential check-ups during pregnancy — monitoring blood pressure, weight, and identifying high-risk cases. The session also covered key topics such as nutrition, immunization, early detection of danger signs, and postnatal care.
Specialists who led the training included Dr. Nupur Garg (Gynecologist, Civil Hospital), Dr. Sunita Camboj (District Epidemiologist & Nodal Officer for Aam Aadmi Clinics), Dr. Amna Kamboj, Dr. Pankaj Chauhan, and Mr. Divesh Kumar from the Mass Media Wing.
Additionally, doctors were given detailed insights into various methods of family planning, their benefits, and potential side effects. The primary goal of the training was to empower healthcare providers with the knowledge needed to educate women and couples, enabling them to make informed and healthy family planning decisions.
The Deputy Commissioner expressed confidence that this training would make the doctors more skilled, informed, and empathetic, ultimately leading to more effective maternal care and family planning services. Doctors were also briefed on government initiatives such as the Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram , Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), and other national family planning schemes.
