Asmita Khelo India Women’s City League – Cycling Event to be Held on July 20 in Mohali

Mohali (S.A.S. Nagar), July 17, 2025: The Cycling Federation of India (CFI), in collaboration with Khelo India (Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India) and the District Cycling Association, S.A.S. Nagar, is organizing the first-ever Asmita Khelo India Women’s City League – Road Cycling Event in Punjab on Sunday, July 20, 2025.
Sharing this information, Jagdeep Singh Kahlo, President of the District Cycling Association, S.A.S. Nagar, and recipient of the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Award (Government of Punjab), who is also serving as the overall in-charge of the event, stated that this unique event will begin at 6:00 AM, with the opening and closing ceremonies being held near Manav Mangal Smart School, Sector 88, Mohali.
This initiative, under the Khelo India banner, aims to empower girls through sports and to promote grassroots-level participation in cycling across urban and rural areas.
A large number of women cyclists are expected to participate in the event, showcasing their strength, resilience, and competitive spirit. The event will also see active participation from local schools and colleges, encouraging youth involvement and promoting health and fitness.
District officials, international athletes, arjuna awardees,
and prominent figures from various walks of life will be present at the event. Essential facilities such as drinking water, shade, public toilets, and refreshments for participants and attendees will be provided. The organizers are committed to ensuring a smooth, safe, and vibrant sporting experience for all.
The Asmita Women’s League marks a significant step toward gender equality in sports and aligns with the vision of a fit and active India.
The organizers have extended a warm invitation to citizens, cycling enthusiasts, and supporters of women’s sports to attend the program and cheer for the participating athletes.
Bakshish Singh, Treasurer of the District Cycling Association, S.A.S. Nagar, informed that participants must report near Manav Mangal School, Sector 88 at 5:30 AM. They must bring their own bicycle (any type) and helmet (if available) and carry a valid Aadhar card with a Punjab address. All participants will receive certificates from CFI and Khelo India, and the top three winners in each category will be awarded medals and certificates.
