England: In a thrilling conclusion to the five-match Test series, India defeated England in the fifth and final Test played between July 31 and August 4, leveling the series 2-2. Despite impressive performances from England's batters and bowlers, India emerged victorious with a strong second-innings fightback.
England won the toss and elected to field first, bowling out India for 224 runs in the first innings. Karun Nair top-scored for India with a gritty 57, but the rest of the Indian batting line-up failed to make a major impact.
In response, England posted 247 runs, taking a 23-run lead. Zak Crawley (64) and Harry Brook (53) were the standout performers for England in their first innings.
India bounced back strongly in the second innings. Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal led the charge with a brilliant century, steering India to a strong total. His commanding knock put India in a dominant position.
With the ball, Mohammed Siraj was the star, taking 5 wickets in England’s second innings.
Despite a brave resistance by England, including a century from Harry Brook and five-wicket hauls from both Gus Atkinson and Josh Tongue, India managed to bowl them out and chase the required target comfortably.
