Chandigarh, June 3, 2026: The Union Territory administration has achieved a major milestone in land record digitisation with the successful implementation of the NAKSHA Project, as highlighted by the official X handle of Deputy Commissioner Chandigarh Nishant Kumar Yadav.
Under the project, more than 13,000 properties across urban sectors and villages in Chandigarh have been geo-mapped, marking a significant step toward transparent and technology-driven governance.
Near-Complete Property Mapping Achieved
The administration reported that 6,642 out of 6,647 properties (99.92%) in urban sectors have been surveyed and linked with the Record of Rights, ensuring near-total digital integration of land records.
In rural areas, all 6,369 properties across five villages—Attawa, Sarangpur, Burail, Palsora, and Kajheri—have been verified with 100% coverage, completing a comprehensive land audit.
Technology-Driven Verification
The project relied on drone surveillance and rover-based ground verification systems, supported by 20 dedicated field survey teams working on the ground to ensure accuracy and eliminate discrepancies.
What It Means for Residents
The administration said the initiative will directly benefit citizens by:
- Making property buying, selling, and loan processing faster and easier
- Reducing ownership disputes and legal conflicts
- Ensuring transparent, secure, and traceable land records
Push Toward Digital Governance
Officials described the NAKSHA Project as a major step toward modern, data-backed urban governance, aimed at improving accountability and reducing manual errors in property documentation.
With this achievement, Chandigarh moves closer to becoming a fully digitised land-record ecosystem, strengthening trust between citizens and the administration.
