Haryana Govt declares paid holiday on March 2

Chandigarh, February 28, 2025 – The Haryana Government has declared a paid holiday on March 2, 2025 (Sunday) for registered voters of areas where elections of Municipal Corporations, Municipal Councils and Municipal Committees will be held.
In a notification issued by the Human Resoiurces Department, it has been informed that March 2, 2025 (Sunday), the day of the polling for the General Election for the seats of Mayors and Members of all the wards of 07 Municipal Corporations, Presidents and Members of all wards of 04 Municipal Councils and 21 Municipal Committees and by-elections of 02 seats of Mayors in Municipal Corporations of Ambala and Sonepat, 03 Seats of Presidents in Municipal Council, Sohna (Gurugram); Municipal Committee, Assandh (Karnal) and Municipal Committee, Ismailabad (Kurukshetra) and 03 seats of Members in Ward No. 11 of Municipal Committee, Ladwa (Kurukshetra); Ward No. 14 of Municipal Committee, Safidon (Jind) & Ward No. 5 of Municipal Committee, Taraori (Karnal) shall be observed as a paid holiday in all Haryana Government offices, boards/corporations and educational institutions under Section 135-B of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 in respect of those employees of the state government who are registered voters of the above said areas, for casting their vote in the elections.
It is further informed that March 9, 2025 (Sunday), the day of the polling for General Election for the seats of Mayor & Members of all wards of Municipal Corporation-Panipat shall be observed as paid holiday in all Haryana Government offices, boards/corporations and educational institutions under Section 135-B of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 in respect of those employees of the state government who are registered voters of the Municipal Corporation-Panipat.
The notification further states that employees/workers of various factories, shops and private establishments located in Haryana, who are registered voters of above said areas are also allowed paid holiday under Section 135-B of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 for the same purpose on the corresponding dates.
