Shimla (Himachal Pradesh), May 25, 2025: The Himachal Pradesh Secretariat in Shimla was once again on high alert after receiving a fresh bomb threat via email on Sunday. The threat, addressed to the Chief Secretary’s Office, prompted an immediate security response from the administration.
Although no staff were present at the Secretariat due to the Sunday holiday, a heavy police force was swiftly deployed around the premises. The bomb disposal squad and dog squad were called in and are currently conducting an intensive search operation to ensure safety.
Authorities have taken the threat seriously and placed the entire area under strict surveillance. Investigation agencies are working to trace the origin of the threatening email, which has raised concerns given the Secretariat’s history of similar threats.
Recurring Threats Raise Security Concerns
This is not the first time the State Secretariat has been targeted. A similar threat was received in April 2025, which also led to a full-scale security sweep. No explosives were found during that incident, but Sunday’s repeat threat has added to the growing pressure on state security agencies.
The issue is not limited to the Secretariat alone. In recent weeks, Deputy Commissioner (DC) offices in Hamirpur, Mandi, Chamba, and Kullu districts have also received bomb threats through emails or anonymous letters. Thankfully, no explosive devices were discovered in any of those locations during subsequent searches.
State on Alert
With the rising frequency of such threats, the Himachal Pradesh administration is treating the situation with utmost seriousness. Officials have assured that security protocols are being reinforced across all key administrative buildings in the state.
Investigations are ongoing, and authorities are hopeful of making a breakthrough soon in identifying the individual or group behind the series of hoax threats that are straining resources and causing public alarm.
