IAS officer suspended amid sexual harassment probe

Kohima, May 23, 2025 — The Nagaland government has suspended IAS officer Reny Wilfred, who previously served as Joint Secretary of the Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN), in connection with an ongoing criminal investigation into sexual harassment allegations.
The suspension comes after a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted in April by the Nagaland Police to probe the allegations raised by employees of IDAN.
Wilfred, a 2015-batch IAS officer from the Nagaland cadre, was earlier relieved of his duties at IDAN following the launch of the probe.
Civil society groups, including the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) and the Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA), had been vocal in demanding Wilfred's suspension pending the outcome of the investigation.
They argued that continuing in service during an active probe would undermine the integrity of the investigation and potentially influence the process.
