Illegal De-Addiction Center sealed in Faridkot; 19 patients shifted for proper treatment
Faridkot, April 5, 2025: Under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Ms. Poonamdeep Kaur and Dr. Pragya Jain, SSP Faridkot, the district administration is conducting raids in identified drug hotspot areas as part of the campaign "War Against Drugs." Along with the health department teams, they are also inspecting illegal de-addiction centers operating in the district to ensure that individuals seeking help receive proper treatment and can be rescued from the grip of addiction.

As part of this effort, the district administration and Faridkot police received information about an illegal de-addiction center being run under the name of "Ek Jariya Foundation Welfare Society" in Faridkot. The center had admitted some individuals for de-addiction treatment.
Acting on this information, police teams led by officials from the health department, civil administration, Mr. Jasmeet Singh (SP Investigation, Faridkot), and Mr. Tarlochan Singh (DSP Faridkot) reached the site.
The inspection team formed to check unauthorized de-addiction centers included Tehsildar Mr. Ram Chand, Deputy Medical Commissioner Dr. Vishwadeep Goyal, Senior Medical Officer Dr. Paramjit Singh Brar, Medical Officer Dr. Manpreet Kaur (Civil Hospital Faridkot), Senior Resident Dr. Gagandeep Ahuja, and Drug Inspector Mr. Harjinder Singh, along with other civil officials.
Upon reaching the site, the health department teams inspected the center and found that the operators could not produce any license or authorization. It was revealed that the center was being run without any legal permission. As a result, the health department teams immediately sealed the center.
In addition, the 19 individuals who had been admitted for de-addiction treatment at this illegal center were safely transferred and admitted to the government de-addiction center at Guru Gobind Singh Medical College, Faridkot, where they will now receive proper medical treatment.
