Over 100 kg of heroin seized in Ferozepur since March; Fresh 3.5 Kg recovery linked to earlier case

Ferozepur, July 11, 2025: In a major crackdown under the ongoing anti-drug campaign, Ferozepur Police achieved another breakthrough, recovering 3 kg 500 grams of heroin and ₹2 lakh drug money in a follow-up operation linked to an earlier drug bust and arrested one person under the NDPS Act.
As per directives from DGP Punjab and with the close supervision of Manjeet Singh SP (D) Ferozepur, B.S.Sran, DSP Zira, and Baljinder Singh SHO Sadar Zira, the police team, including CIA Incharge Zira SI Peepal Singh, acted on leads from a previous case. Earlier, on July 8, police had recovered 2 kg of heroin, two pistols, and arrested two accused, including Rashpal Singh alias Gora (40), a resident of Basti Machhia, Zira.
Bhupinder Singh Sidhu, SSP, said, “Following backwards linkage investigations from that case under NDPS and Arms Act, police conducted another raid and arrested Rashpal Singh again, recovering 3.5 kg heroin and ₹2 lakh from his possession”.
He further said, “This recovery adds to the series of major drug seizures made by Ferozepur Police this year. Since March 1, police have seized 102.483 kg of heroin, ₹82.70 lakh drug money, 23,595 intoxicating tablets and capsules, 30 illegal weapons, 250 live cartridges, and 400 grams of ICE drug. Besides, 681 NDPS cases have been registered and 870 smugglers and peddlers arrested during this period”.
SSP appreciated the relentless efforts of the district police teams, vowing to intensify the anti-drug operations further in the coming days.
