PAU: 24 Extension Scientists get training in DSR Technology

Ludhiana (Punjab), April 25, 2025: As many as 24 extension scientists acquired hands-on skill training in direct seeding rice (DSR) technology at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU).
Held under the guidance of Dr MS Bhullar, Director of Extension Education, the training programme was organized by the Skill Development Centre of PAU.
Dr Rupinder Kaur, Associate Director (Skill Development), advocated Tar-Wattar DSR for saving irrigation water, lesser emergence of weeds, lesser infection, and higher yield.
Dr Kulvir Kaur, Course Coordinator, informed about the research and extension accomplishments so as to enable them to apprise farmers of the new technologies for successful scientific farming.
The Course Co-Coordinator Dr Amit Kaul imparted practical training in the sowing of early maturing “PR’ varieties through the DSR method.
Dr Anoop Dikshit explained the use of machinery meant for paddy transplanting, and mat type nursery raising techniques. Dr. Aseem Verma and Dr Manpreet Khiva shed light on the use of paddy transplanter for raising mat-type nursery and weed management in DSR, respectively.
Mrs Kanwaljit Kaur proposed a vote of thanks.
