Indian Association of Lawyers condemns Bar Council for making Kunwar Vijay Partap as member of disciplinary committee
New Delhi, April 25, 2021: The Punjab and Chandigarh unit of the Indian Association of Lawyers (IAL) have raised serious questions the act and conduct of the Bar council of Punjab and Haryana far co-opting day Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh as member of the disciplinary committee of the Bar council of Punjab and Haryana, who has recently resigned as IPS officer.
In a statement issued by President Sampuran Singh, Secretary Harchand Singh Chhajali, General Secretary Jaspal Singh Dappar and Senior Vice President NK Chhibbar said that it would be relevant to mention here that recently the Hon’ble Punjab and Haryana High Court in its judgment have raised serious observations on the act and conduct of the former IPS officer during the course of his investigation conducted in Kotkapura firing case. It would be further relevant to mention here that the said controversial IPS officer have applied to obtain the licence from the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana High Court in order to start his practice only the day before yesterday and on the same day he has been co-opted as member of the disciplinary committee of the Bar Council in violation of all settled norms and rules

Indian Association of Lawyers called upon the di Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana to immediately withdraw the said order in order to show the transparency and respect for the judgment and observations made by the Hon’ble Punjab and Haryana High Court. It would be relevant to note here that the said former IPS officer have openly made comments against the senior lawyers of the Supreme Court of India as well as of the Punjab and Haryana High Court in order to save his skin skin and cover up his shortcomings.
