Chandigarh, March 18, 2025 – The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation (MCC) successfully organized the 53rd Rose Festival with 100% private sponsorship, not only covering the event's costs but also saving ₹11.57 lakh from the total expenditure.
Sharing the achievement, MC Commissioner Amit Kumar (IAS) stated that for the first time in the festival’s history, the event was conducted on a zero-budget model, relying entirely on sponsorships and auctioned advertising spaces at Rose Garden.
The festival, held from February 21 to 23, secured ₹60.55 lakh in sponsorships, while the total expenditure stood at ₹48.98 lakh, resulting in a surplus of ₹11.57 lakh.
Key Highlights of the 53rd Rose Festival:
Zero-Budget Event: ₹60.55 lakh raised through sponsorships and auctioning event spaces.
Major Sponsors: 21 businesses, PSUs, banks, and local associations supported the festival in exchange for advertising space.
Cultural Evenings at No Cost: North Zone Culture Centre (NZCC) and Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi (CSNA) funded performances, along with a Hasya Kavi Sammelan by local poetry group Ibaarat.
Competitions & Exhibits: Flower arrangement displays, bonsai exhibits, and cultural competitions held as per tradition.
Commissioner Amit Kumar also highlighted MCC’s previous success in organizing the Chrysanthemum Show in December 2024 through a similar self-sustaining model, where event expenses were covered by auctioning food court spaces at Terraced Garden, Sector 33.
With this innovative approach, MCC is setting a new benchmark for cost-efficient event management, ensuring grand celebrations without burdening public funds.
