Supreme Court Forms Panel to Investigate Allegations Against Delhi HC Judge Over Cash Seizure, Report to be made public

New Delhi/ Chandigarh , March 22, 2025:
The Chief Justice of India, Sanjiv Khanna, has constituted a three-member committee to investigate the allegations against Delhi High Court judge, Justice Yashwant Varma, following reports of a large sum of cash being discovered at his residence in the national capital.
The committee will be led by Sheel Nagu, Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, and includes Justice GS Sandhawalia, Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court, and Justice Anu Sivaraman from the Karnataka High Court, as announced by the Supreme Court in a press statement today.
The Supreme Court has also directed that, until further notice, the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court should refrain from assigning any judicial duties to Justice Varma.
According to the statement, the report from the Delhi High Court Chief Justice, Justice Varma’s response, and other relevant documents will be the will be uploaded on its official website for public access.
