Punjab CM’s stance on drinking water unjust, says Haryana Nayab Saini
Chandigarh, May 22, 2025: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini sharply criticized Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for his “arrogant” attitude towards Haryana’s rightful share of drinking water. He condemned the politicization of such a vital issue, stating it reflects poorly on a public leader, especially when water is regarded as a sacred resource across the country.
Speaking at a press conference at Ramkundi Dharamshala in Ladwa on Thursday, Saini invoked the teachings of the Gurus and India’s humanitarian values to emphasize that Punjab must respect judicial decisions on the matter. He urged the Punjab government to comply with Supreme Court and High Court rulings and stop obstructing Haryana’s legitimate water rights.
The Chief Minister appealed to Bhagwant Mann to put aside political considerations and fulfill his constitutional duties.
Responding to questions, Saini also shared details of his recent meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, focusing on the comprehensive development of Haryana. He highlighted initiatives such as the Amrit Station Scheme, which is upgrading several railway stations to boost regional progress.
Taking a swipe at the Congress party, Saini said the public is aware of past misgovernance, contrasting it with the rapid and meaningful development seen in the last decade under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.
He also spoke about the ongoing Tiranga Yatras across Haryana, which are uniting communities and honoring the nation’s brave soldiers.
Former Minister of State Subhash Sudha, Chairman Dharmbir Dagar, Deputy Commissioner Neha Singh, and other dignitaries were present at the event.
