Chandigarh, July 31, 2025 —
A fresh case has been registered against senior SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia on charges of obstructing vigilance operations, as per the party's information. The new FIR, filed by Amritsar police, alleges that during a recent raid conducted by the vigilance department, Majithia and his supporters were involved in physical altercations with police personnel and hindered official proceedings, said SAD leader Adv AS Kaler.
The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has strongly condemned the registration of a new FIR against their senior leader Bikram Singh Majithia, calling it a politically motivated move. Adv. Arshdeep Singh Kler, Chief Spokesperson of SAD, voiced concerns over the increasing number of legal cases against opposition leaders and questioned whether Punjab is on the path to becoming a police state.
Speaking on behalf of the party, Kler claimed that the FIR was false and alleged that such actions are being used to intimidate political dissent. However, it is important to note that any government authority has not officially confirmed this claim by SAD.
Further updates are awaited as the case progresses.
