Chandigarh, December 29, 2025: An important meeting of the Punjab Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, was held on Monday, during which key decisions aimed at improving administrative efficiency and public convenience were approved.
The Cabinet gave its nod to upgrade Banur sub-tehsil into a Sub-Division/Tehsil Banur in SAS Nagar (Mohali) district. Additionally, approval was granted to create Haryana as a new sub-tehsil under the Sub-Division/Tehsil Hoshiarpur in Hoshiarpur district.
The decisions are expected to significantly reduce inconvenience faced by the general public and provide relief from bureaucratic delays by bringing administrative services closer to residents.
Speaking after the meeting, Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian said that the creation and upgradation of tehsils would help address people’s problems more efficiently and ensure faster delivery of government services.
The Cabinet also approved important amendments to the “Mera Ghar, Mera Naam” scheme. Mundian said that once ownership documents are issued under the scheme, beneficiaries will be able to avail loans and other financial facilities. He added that beneficiaries will soon receive permanent ownership cards as proof of property rights.
The Punjab government said these decisions reflect its commitment to strengthening grassroots administration and empowering citizens through transparent and accessible governance.
