Youth found dead in Ferozepur Hotel; Family stages road protest, alleges murder
Ferozepur, July 21, 2026: A 23-year-old man from Machhiwara was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a hotel room in Ferozepur Cantonment, prompting a police investigation and protests by his family on road, who have alleged that he was murdered as part of a conspiracy.
The deceased has been identified as Kulwant Singh, son of Jagir Singh, a resident of Machhiwara. According to hotel authorities, Kulwant checked into the hotel around noon and rented a room. About 15 to 20 minutes later, an unidentified woman arrived to meet him and remained in the room for nearly an hour before leaving.
The incident came to light when a housekeeping employee entered the room during a routine inspection and allegedly found Kulwant hanging from the ceiling fan. The hotel management immediately informed the police, who reached the spot, took possession of the body, and sent it to the Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination.
The investigating officer said the police received information from the hotel owner at around 2:30 p.m. regarding the alleged suicide. However, the victim's family has strongly rejected the suicide theory and claimed that Kulwant was murdered.
The family staged a protest and raised slogans against the police administration, demanding the immediate arrest of those responsible. Kulwant's wife alleged that her husband had been in contact with a woman for the past two years. She claimed that despite repeated requests to the woman and her family to stay away, they continued to interfere in their married life.
The family further alleged that the woman had lured Kulwant to the hotel as part of a planned conspiracy, where he was assaulted before being hanged to make the incident appear as a suicide.
Police officials described the case as highly sensitive and said CCTV footage from the hotel is being thoroughly examined to identify the woman who visited the room. They added that further legal action will be taken based on the post-mortem report, forensic findings, and CCTV evidence.
Police have urged the public to avoid speculation until the investigation is completed. At present, the exact cause and manner of Kulwant Singh's death remain under investigation.
