65 Students Participate in 4th Shadi Ram Nand Lal Memorial Declamation Competition in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, August 22, 2026: The 4th Shadi Ram Nand Lal Memorial Declamation Competition 2026 was organized by Lions Club Ferozepur Border with participation from 65 students representing various prominent schools of the city.
Giving details, Lion Ashish Aggarwal, President of Lions Club Ferozepur Border, said students from schools including St. Joseph’s Convent School, Disha Public School, Shanti Vidya Mandir, Jogindera Convent School, Delhi Public School, D.C. Model School, Das & Brown World School, D.C. Model International School, Vivekanand World School and R.S.D. School participated in the competition and expressed their views on different contemporary topics.
Before the announcement of the final results, Dr. Jagdeep Singh Sandhu, District Language Officer, interacted with the participants and shared valuable tips for performing effectively in declamation competitions. He advised students to understand the topic thoroughly instead of merely memorising the speech. He said that if a speaker forgets a portion of the prepared script, they should confidently move ahead and, if necessary, cover the speech by proceeding towards the conclusion.
Dr. Sandhu also stressed the importance of maintaining eye contact with the audience, avoiding unnecessary questions merely to attract attention, using appropriate gestures while speaking and ending the speech with a powerful punch line. He said participation in such competitions should not be aimed merely at winning, but at learning, gaining confidence and improving communication skills.
The jury, headed by Dr. Jagdeep Singh Sandhu, declared Bhavya Sarkar of St. Joseph’s Convent School as the first-prize winner, Cherish Dhingra of Delhi Public School as the second-prize winner and Gurjot Kaur of Jogindera Convent School as the third-prize winner. The winners were presented trophies along with cash prizes.
Manvik Chopra of St. Joseph’s Convent School, Kritika of Das & Brown World School and Aishdeep Kaur of D.C. Model International School received consolation awards along with cash prizes. All participating students were also presented certificates and gifts.
The successful conduct of the competition was made possible through the dedicated efforts of the entire team of Lions Club Ferozepur Border, including Lion Mohit Garg, Lion Deepak Gupta, Lion Gurpreet Singh Kharbanda, Lion Ashish Sharma, Lion Akshay Manik, Lion Dr. Rohit Garg, Lion Sourvi Puri, Lion Ankur Chopra, Lion Love Chhabra, Lion Gagandeep Singh, Lion Sarpreet Singh, Lion Deepak Mangal and Lion Dr. Gaurav Luthra.
