Railway cancels 21 trains, diverts 21 and short-terminates 10 over Manawala works in Ferozepur Rail Division
Ferozepur, September 19, 2026: Northern Railway has announced cancellation, diversion, short termination, short origination and rescheduling of several trains from September 21 to 27 due to addition and alteration works at Manawala station in the Sanahwal–Amritsar section for construction of longer loops.
According to a Northern Railway press release issued on September 19, a total of 21 train services have been cancelled for different dates between September 21 and 27. The cancellations include several services connecting Amritsar with Chandigarh, Nangal Dam, New Delhi, Haridwar, Jalandhar City, Qadian, Tarn Taran and Atari.
As part of the operational changes, 21 train services will be diverted on specified dates. These include trains connecting Pathankot and Delhi, Bhagat Ki Kothi and Jammu Tawi, Amritsar and Tatanagar, Amritsar and Gorakhpur, Amritsar and Narpurganj, Amritsar and Ajmer, and several other long-distance services.
Ten train services will be short-terminated, while 10 corresponding services will be short-originated from intermediate stations. These include services between Ludhiana and Chheharta, New Delhi and Amritsar, Katihar and Amritsar, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and Amritsar, and Dera Baba Nanak and Amritsar.
The railway has also announced rescheduling or regulation of 18 train services. The changes range from 15 minutes to four hours, depending on the train and date. Among the affected services are trains between Darbhanga and Amritsar, Lal Kuan and Amritsar, Saharsa and Chheharta, Amritsar and Jaynagar, Varanasi and Chheharta, Sealdah and Amritsar, Chheharta and Varanasi, Amritsar and Gorakhpur, and Pathankot and Amritsar.
Passengers have been advised to check the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) or dial railway helpline 139 before undertaking their journey.
The changes have been necessitated by engineering works at Manawala station aimed at providing longer loops in the Sanahwal–Amritsar section.
