Ludhiana (Punjab), September 19, 2026: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday launched the Aam Aadmi Party’s ‘Ghar-Ghar Maan De Munafe’ campaign in Ludhiana, asking party workers to go door-to-door and inform people about the work carried out by the state government during its tenure.
Addressing a gathering of AAP MLAs, leaders and workers, Mann said the party should now approach people with a record of completed works rather than making fresh promises. He claimed that the government had delivered more than the guarantees announced during the 2022 Assembly elections.
Mann said 19 toll plazas had been closed in Punjab and claimed that this was saving people around ₹64 lakh every day. He also highlighted the state government’s Sadak Surakhya Force (SSF), claiming that it had helped save more than 2,700 lives. The government has previously said the SSF has reduced road-accident fatalities in the state.
On irrigation, Mann said the government had laid 14,000 km of underground pipelines to take canal water to agricultural fields, with another 7,000 km planned by the end of the year. He said canal-water utilisation for irrigation had increased substantially during the current government’s tenure. Recent reports have quoted him putting the figure at 88 per cent, compared with 22 per cent in March 2022.
Mann also claimed that groundwater levels had risen by between one and five metres in several areas following measures aimed at expanding canal irrigation and reducing dependence on groundwater. These figures were presented by the Chief Minister as part of the government’s water-conservation efforts.
On electricity, Mann said farmers were being provided uninterrupted daytime power for agricultural operations and reiterated the government’s claim that the 300-unit monthly free electricity scheme had resulted in zero power bills for a large number of households.
He also highlighted the Punjab government’s purchase of the Goindwal Sahib private thermal power plant, saying the state now had three government-owned thermal plants along with its own coal mine.
On employment, Mann claimed that more than 71,000 government jobs had been provided during the AAP government’s tenure without bribery or political recommendations. He said the recruitment process had enabled candidates from ordinary and economically weaker families to secure government jobs on the basis of merit.
The Chief Minister also claimed that Punjab had improved its position in education and referred to the government’s ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan’ programme as an initiative to promote sports at the grassroots level. He further announced that the Hockey Asian Champions Trophy would be hosted in Punjab, with matches scheduled in Mohali and Jalandhar from October 27 to November 5.
During his address, Mann also criticised the Congress, Shiromani Akali Dal and Bharatiya Janata Party, accusing opposition parties of lacking a roadmap for Punjab’s development. He questioned the BJP’s ongoing ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra’ and referred to the drug problem during the 2007-2017 Shiromani Akali Dal-BJP government.
Mann also alleged that large drug consignments had been seized from Gujarat’s Mundra Port and said the BJP should address the drug problem in states where it is in power. These were political allegations made during his address.
On the 2027 Assembly elections, Mann said the AAP would seek another term and claimed that Punjab’s voters would again support the party. The statement was made as part of the party’s campaign messaging ahead of the next state elections.
