BSF, ANTF bust cross-border smuggling network in Ferozepur; two held with nearly 20 Kg heroin
Ferozepur, September 26, 2026: In a joint operation carried out on September 25, 2026, the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Ferozepur Range, recovered 19 kilograms 820 grams of heroin packed in 20 packets and apprehended two accused allegedly linked to a cross-border drug-smuggling network. An FIR (No. 225/2026) was registered in connection with the case on September 25.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of DSP Pirthipal Singh of ANTF Ferozepur Range along with the Abhishek Anand, Assistant Commandant, BSF, and was launched on the basis of intelligence inputs developed by the BSF that allowed the two forces to coordinate a targeted response. The accused have been identified as Baljinder Singh alias Rocky, son of Balveer Singh, and Manjeet Singh alias Gagandeep, son of Bagicha Singh — both residents of Village Langeana under Police Station Sadar, Ferozepur.
During the operation, teams recovered a rubber tube about four feet long, tightly sealed at both ends with iron wire roughly 2.5 mm thick. On opening and searching the tube, officials found 20 packets of contraband weighing a total of 19 kg 820 grams concealed inside. Besides the narcotics, ₹30 in cash, one ₹10 note and one ₹20 note and a mobile phone were recovered from the accused.
Investigators said the probe so far has revealed that both accused were in contact with Pakistan-based smugglers and were allegedly part of a cross-border smuggling network, operating as a link in its local supply and distribution chain. The recovered mobile phone and other material are being examined to trace the full network and identify handlers and associates involved.
Officials said the operation has dealt a major blow to the Pakistan-based smuggling network and disrupted its local distribution chain. The ANTF Ferozepur Range said it remains committed to taking strict action against cross-border narcotics smuggling. Further investigation is underway.
