Ludhiana (Punjab), October 18, 2026: Ludhiana MP and former Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring has urged party leaders to intensify preparations for the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections and launch an aggressive campaign against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.
Warring held a meeting with senior Congress leaders, former ministers and former MLAs at the residence of former MLA Kuldeep Vaid on Saturday to discuss election preparations and the party’s campaign strategy.
Calling on the party cadre to step up its activities, Warring said Congress leaders must reach out to people directly and highlight what he described as the failures of the AAP government.
“The AAP government has failed miserably on all fronts, turning Punjab into a failed state. With elections fast approaching, every leader must work relentlessly to secure Congress’s victory,” he said.
Warring stressed the need for door-to-door outreach to raise public awareness about the issues facing the state. He alleged that the AAP government had lost public confidence and said the Congress would make its performance a central issue in the election campaign.
Drugs, law and order among key issues
The meeting also discussed concerns relating to farmers, industrialists, traders, business owners and other sections of society.
Warring accused the AAP government of failing to protect Punjab’s economic interests and maintain law and order. He alleged that crime and murders had increased under the present government.
He also called on Congress leaders to highlight the drug menace and question the state government’s efforts to tackle it.
“Expose before the people of Punjab how the drug menace has flourished under the AAP regime,” he told party leaders.
Warring assured Congress workers of his support in raising issues affecting Punjab and said the party was preparing to take on the AAP in the upcoming Assembly elections.
Describing the meeting as fruitful, he said Congress leaders were ready to intensify their campaign in the run-up to the polls.
