Baba Bhalku Smriti Kalka-Shimla Rail Sahitya Yatra set for April 12-13
Ferozepur/Solan, March 19, 2025: The Baba Bhalku Smriti Kalka-Shimla Rail Sahitya Yatra and Samvad is set to take place on April 12-13, 2025, under the aegis of Himalaya Sahitya Sanskriti and Parvaran Manch (HSS-PM). This national-level literary journey, organized in collaboration with the Himachal Arts, Culture, and Language Academy, Shimla, will witness the participation of renowned writers from across the country.

S.R. Harnot, acclaimed storyteller and president of HSS-PM, shared that the two-day event aims to foster literary and cultural dialogue. The journey will commence on April 12 from Kalka, traveling through Barog before reaching Shimla. On April 13, the participants will explore Kufri, Chail, and Jhajha village by bus before returning to Shimla. Writers and literary enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating this immersive experience.
Anju Anand ‘Ada’, a poet and author from Solan, hailed the initiative as a landmark event in literary history. She emphasized that such gatherings help promote cultural engagement and inspire both young and old to connect with literature, steering them away from negativity. She also called for similar events to be organized in other states to enrich the literary landscape nationwide.
The Baba Bhalku Smriti Sahitya Yatra is expected to be a vibrant confluence of literary minds, celebrating the heritage of the historic Kalka-Shimla Railway while fostering intellectual and cultural exchange.
