SVM Students spread joy with ‘Eco-Friendly Diwali Celebrations’ in Ferozepur’s underprivileged communities

Ferozepur, November 1, 2024: Students from Shanti Vidya Mandir (SVM) celebrated an eco-friendly Diwali with a purpose: to bring light and happiness to those whose lives are touched by hardship. Led by the school’s management committee, Kulbhushan Garg, Dr Rohit Garg, and Principal Rajni Madahar, this initiative focused on encouraging the joy of giving and fostering environmental awareness.
In the spirit of Diwali, teachers and students extended their celebrations beyond their homes to visit underprivileged communities. They reached out to slum areas, a leprosy ashram, a cowshed, a blind school, a civil hospital, and an old age home, delivering thoughtful gifts and warm wishes to residents who often experience Diwali differently due to financial, physical, or emotional struggles.
During their visits, students distributed eco-friendly gifts—opting for sustainable items rather than firecrackers—and personally wished residents a happy Diwali, filling their day with companionship and care. The initiative was met with heartfelt smiles and gratitude, especially from those who may not have family nearby to celebrate with.
Upon returning to school, the students expressed a sense of fulfillment and joy, realizing that sharing happiness can create lasting memories. Through this initiative, SVM not only highlighted the importance of environmental responsibility but also underscored Diwali’s true essence: love, compassion, and harmony. This unique celebration served as a reminder of the power of kindness and the shared values that unite communities, illuminating lives across Ferozepur.
