112 Teams from 17 States & 5 Countries to Debate Emerging AI, IPR Challenges in Chandigarh University’s International Moot Court ‘Juris Nexus 2026’
Supreme Court & High Court Judges Will Form the Judiciary Panel for Judgement of International Moot Court Competition

Mohali (Punjab), September 22, 2026: To equip law students with real-world exposure to emerging legal challenges in the digital age, Chandigarh University is hosting ‘Juris Nexus 2026’, an International Moot Court Competition on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), bringing together budding legal minds, judges, eminent legal professionals, researcher and academicians from across the globe for cross-cultural academic exchange and collaborative engagement on cutting-edge legal questions, shaping national and international legal frameworks, through simulated judicial proceedings with a prize pool of over Rs 1.8 Lakh.
Organized by the University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), Chandigarh University, the three-day ‘Juris Nexus 2026’, to be held from 24 September to 26 September, will be graced by dignitaries including the chief guests Justice Rajesh Bindal, former Supreme Court Judge, Justice Alok Jain, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court, Justice Sant Parkash, Chairperson, Punjab State Human Rights Commission, Dr Manoj Kumar, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Law and Justice, Advocate Pawan Kumar Mutneja, Advocate General, Haryana, Dr Balram K. Gupta, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court, former Director, National Judicial Academy, and Director (Academics), Chandigarh Judicial Academy, Dr Amar Pal Singh, VC, Dr Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow and Dr Nitin Malik, Registrar, Gujarat National Law University. The distinguished guests slated to attend ‘Juris Nexus 2026’ also include Adv. Davinder Pal Singh, Additional Solicitor General, Supreme Court, Vivek Narayan, Advocate-On-Record, Supreme Court, Dr Rashmi Nagpal, Principal, Army Institute of Law, Mohali, Dr Raghavender GR, Senior Consultant (IPR), DPIIT, Adv Chanchal Singla, Additional Advocate General, Punjab and Haryana High Court, Senior Adv Rohit Sud, President, Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association and Adv Survir Sidhu, Member, Bar Council of India.
Sharing details, Deepinder Singh Sandhu, Senior Managing Director, Chandigarh University said, “As AI continues to transform industries, economies, and societies, it has simultaneously raised complex questions concerning ownership, innovation, accountability, creativity, and the future of intellectual property law. So as an International Moot Court Competition, Juris Nexus 2026, has been carefully crafted to reflect real-world disputes arising at the intersection of technology and law. The 112 teams shortlisted for this Moot Court Competition will prepare comprehensive memorials, undertake extensive legal research, and present persuasive oral arguments before a distinguished seven-member bench of distinguished judges,”.
“Besides promoting academic excellence and legal research in the fields of artificial intelligence and intellectual property rights, this International Moot Court Competition will provide participants with practical exposure to complex legal disputes arising from emerging technologies and encourage critical analysis of contemporary challenges relating to AI-generated creations, inventions, and innovations. It also enhances advocacy, drafting, research, and oral argumentation skills among law students,” he added.
Simranjit Kaur Gill, Executive Director, UILS said, “Besides 105 teams from 17 States across India including Delhi, Haryana, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Odisha and Uttarakhand, seven teams from five countries including United Kingdom, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Nepal, and South Africa will also participate in the ‘Juris Nexus 2026’, making it a truly international academic event.
“This Moot Court Competition will be conducted through multiple rounds including preliminary rounds, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final round. While the winner will get a prize of Rs 1 lakh, the runner-up will receive a prize of Rs 50 thousand. Besides this, a prize of Rs 11,000 will be given to Best Memorial, Best Mooter and Best Researcher,” she added.
