Secretary Education Prerna Puri Distributes Diwali Gifts to Rehabilitation Colony Children at Government Model High School, Maloya
Chandigarh, November 5, 2026 - In a quiet gesture of compassion this festive season, Tricity Intelligentsia shared the joy of Diwali with 58 students of Government Model High School, Rehabilitation Colony No. 2, Maloya, on Thursday.
These are children who have known deep loss. Eight of them have lost both their parents, and the remaining 50 have lost their fathers. For them, the festival of lights can also be a season of shadows, and the initiative sought to bring warmth and reassurance into their lives.
Mrs. Prerna Puri, IAS, Secretary Education, Chandigarh Administration, attended as Chief Guest and personally handed over Diwali gifts and sweets to the children, blessing each of them.
The programme was deliberately kept sober and simple, without ceremony or ritual, so that the focus stayed on the children and on a single message of love: that they are never forgotten, and that their community stands with them.
Members of Tricity Intelligentsia were present to bless the children and share in the occasion.
Tricity Intelligentsia has adopted Government Model High School, Rehabilitation Colony No. 2, Maloya, to provide academic support to its students, and is also working for their sound health and personality development. The Diwali initiative is part of this continuing commitment to the children of the school.
The Tricity Intelligentsia Group, in collaboration with Kaushal Foundation, expressed deep gratitude to Mrs. Puri for taking time out of her demanding schedule to be with the children, describing her presence as a reflection of her compassion and her enduring commitment to the welfare of every child.
