Pakistan Punjab’s highest cultural award announced for Diljit Dosanjh amid 'Sardaar Ji 3' controversy

Lahore/Chandigarh, June 27, 2025 – Amid ongoing controversy surrounding his upcoming film Sardaar Ji 3, popular Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh has been chosen for Pakistan Punjab’s most prestigious cultural honor – the Waris Shah International Award.
The announcement was made by Ilyas Ghumman, Chairman of the Waris International Award Committee, based in Lahore.
The award recognises Diljit’s exceptional contribution to Punjabi music and cinema, transcending borders and strengthening cultural ties between Indian and Pakistani Punjab.
The announcement comes at a time when the actor is facing criticism and debate over certain aspects of Sardar 2, making the recognition both significant and symbolic. No reaction from Diljit Dosanjh so far.
