Pakistani smugglers’ ‘Ice’ drug network busted in Ferozepur, three held with 863 gm
Ferozepur, October 4, 2025: The drug trend in Punjab continues to shift, with addicts increasingly turning from heroin, tablets, and capsules to the more dangerous synthetic stimulant Ice (crystal methamphetamine). Considered even more harmful than heroin, Ice accelerates brain-to-body communication, often consumed by smoking or injection, raising risks of HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis B and C. Overdose can prove fatal.
Despite government campaigns and intensified police action against drug trafficking, the rising recovery of Ice remains a major concern.
In a recent operation, a police team led by SHO Gurvinder Kumar of Ferozepur Sadar nabbed 22-year-old Ramanpreet Singh alias Ramni, a resident of Habib Ke village, during a naka near Gulam Hussain village. The accused was found with 863 grams of Ice drug, two mobile phones, and an unregistered black Hero Passion motorcycle.
During interrogation, police revealed that Ramni was in contact with a Pakistani smuggler named Ali, from whom he procured the narcotics. He was allegedly tasked with delivering the consignment to Pinder Singh, son of Jasmel Singh, and Shavinder Singh, son of Tej Singh, both residents of Dan Singh Wala village in Bathinda district.
Following this lead, police arrested Pinder and Shavinder near Udham Singh Chowk along with an unregistered motorcycle and two mobile phones.
The accused have been booked under NDPS Act, Case No. 276, dated 03.10.2025, Sections 21-C and 61/85.
