Chandigarh, August 11, 2025 — The controversy over Punjabi singers Yo Yo Honey Singh and Karan Aujla’s songs took a new turn today. Instead of appearing before the Punjab State Women’s Commission, both artists apologised over the phone. They informed the commission that they are currently out of the country for professional projects and will meet in person upon their return to India.
Punjab State Women’s Commission Chairperson Raj Lali Gill said the singers contacted the commission and expressed regret over the language used in their songs. Both assured that they respect women and had no intention of hurting anyone’s sentiments.
Considering their situation, the commission accepted the telephonic apology but issued a warning to avoid such mistakes in the future. They have also been given a timeline to meet the chairperson upon returning to India.
The matter arose from Honey Singh’s song “Millionaire” and Karan Aujla’s “MF Gabhru”, which allegedly contained objectionable words against women. Taking suo motu cognisance, the Women’s Commission had ordered both singers to appear today.
