Qadian (Batala), 03 February: The District Administration Gurdaspur launched a campaign against illegal encroachments in markets, prioritizing transportation convenience and public demand.

Harjinder Singh Bedi, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Gurdaspur, E.O. of the Municipal Council Qadian Bhupinder Singh, and the council team removed illegal encroachments from the Municipal Council office to the bus stand Qadian.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Harjinder Singh Bedi stated that the district administration received complaints about illegal encroachments by shopkeepers, causing overcrowding and traffic congestion in markets.
He noted that traffic jams often occurred due to these encroachments, affecting school children and ambulances.
Bedi emphasized that the district administration took action to remove these encroachments, prioritizing public convenience and demand.
Bedi mentioned that the Municipal Council had previously requested shopkeepers to remove encroachments voluntarily. While some shopkeepers complied, others did not, prompting the district administration to take action.
Bedi appealed to shopkeepers to remove illegal encroachments from their shops, ensuring a smooth traffic flow, cleanliness, and beauty of the city.
A similar campaign will be launched in other cities, including Dera Baba Nanak, Fatehgarh Churian, Dinanagar, Dhariwal, and Sri Hargobindpur.
The public appreciated the district administration's efforts to remove illegal encroachments, recognizing its positive impact on traffic flow and city cleanliness.
