Punjab Sarpanch attacked; CCTV captures incident

Fatehgarh Sahib (Punjab), March 21, 2026: Concerns over Punjab’s ongoing drug crisis have taken a serious turn after a village sarpanch was allegedly attacked for speaking out against narcotics. The incident was reported from Shahpur village in the Amloh constituency of Fatehgarh Sahib.
According to information, Dr. Jaswinder Singh, the sarpanch of Shahpur village, was attacked around 6 am while he was present at his clinic.
A group of armed youth reportedly entered the premises and launched a sudden assault on him.
The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed at the clinic, which are now expected to play a crucial role in the investigation.
Sources suggest that Dr. Jaswinder Singh had been actively raising his voice against drug abuse in the village and was leading efforts to curb the menace.
