Out of 419 cases reported at Sakhi One Stop Centre, 401 were resolved: DC

Sangrur, September 22, 2022: Sakhi: One Stop Center, operational inside Civil Hospital Sangrur, has continuously been providing medical aid, police and legal assistance, psycho-social counseling, and temporary accommodation to the female victims of any kind of violence.
While divulging details in this regard, Deputy Commissioner Sangrur Jitendra Jorwal said that efforts were being made by the Sakhi: One Stop Center was bringing positive changes in the lives of women by providing required aid to the victims of domestic or any other kind of violence.
Jitendra Jorwal said that till now about 419 cases have been reported in this center which is being run by the Women and Child Development Department.He added that out of these, 401 cases have been resolved by the center administration.
He said that in 223 cases mental and social counseling has been provided to the victims, while in 124 cases police assistance and in 133 cases legal counseling has been given.
He said that apart from this, in 27 cases medical assistance has been provided to women victims and 10 needy women have also been provided temporary accommodation.
Deputy Commissioner said that any female, victim of domestic or any other kind of violence, will be assisted by the One Stop Center and her identity will also be kept confidential.
He said that the victim can directly approach Sakhi: One Stop Center or lodge a complaint by contacting on 01672-240760 or through e-mail at oscsangrur@gmail.com.
Meanwhile, District Program Officer Gagandeep Singh said that victim females will be given proper advice by the counselors present at the center, and if any medical assistance will be required, they will be referred to the nearest government health institution.
He said that free legal aid was also being provided by the lawyer of the center in legal matters. He said that in such cases where police assistance is required for victim, it was being provided by contacting the concerned police station.
