Nayagaon Ghar Bachao Manch residents march to Punjab CM residence, demand increase in Sukhna's Eco Sensitive Zone

Chandigarh November 24, 2024: Demanding from the Punjab Chief Minister rejected the Department of Forest and Wildlife Protection Punjab's Proposal to increase Eco Sensitive Zone ESZ for Sukhna Wild Life Sanctuary from 100 meters to 3 kms, residents of Nayagaon led by Senior BJP leader and Chairman Naygaon Ghar Bachao Manch Vineet Joshi today marched towards CM Punjab residence here today from Nayagaon, which is just 100 mts away from CM Punjab's residence.
It is pertinent to note that Nayagaon Ghar Bachao Manch is a common platform of political, social and religious organizations of Nayagaon.
Joshi accompanied by Punjab BJP's State Vice President Subhash Sharma, District President Mohali Sanjiv Vashisht, Nayagaon Municipal Council President Gurdhyan Singh, BJP Councillors Surinder Babbal, Parmod Kumar and Harnesh Nattu, Akali Dal Councillor Gurbachan Singh and Congress Councillor Sushil Sharma.
Marching leaders were stopped by heavily deployed Punjab Police and after a scuffle, they sat on the dharna on the road where they were stopped.
While addressing the gathering Joshi said that by doing so the Punjab is contradicting its stand of over 10 years to keep 100 meters ESZ for Sukhna Wild Life Sanctuary.This single decision will deprive lakhs of lower-middle-class and poor people of their properties, who have built small houses with their lifelong savings.
The irony is that the Kansal, Nayagaon, Nada, and Karoran villages were in existence even before the Sukhna Wild Life Sanctuary came into existence in 1998,still, they will face hardships for no fault of theirs.
The prominent people who participated in the dharna are ex-Sarpanch Kansal Arjan Singh Kansal, ex-Councillor Deep Dhillon, Iqbal Singh Saini and Sohan Lal. Religious leaders of Nayagaon like President of Sada Shiv Mandir Committee Raj Kumar Fauji, Chief Servant of Gurudwara Barh Sahib Satnam Singh , Vishwa Snatan Samaj National Spokesman Keshvanand.
