MLA Fauja Singh Sarari commends Punjabi Month 2024 event highlighting satirical play “RSVP” on fraudulent agents

Ferozepur, November 24, 2024: A cultural event for Punjabi Month 2024 was organised under the guidance of the Punjab Government and Director of Language Department, Punjab, Jaswant Singh Zafar, the District Language Office, Ferozepur, at Genesis Dental College. The event's highlight was the staging of the Punjabi play RSVP by the Awaaz Theatre Group, written by acclaimed playwright Pali Bhupinder Singh and directed by Jagdeep Sandhu.
Chief Guest Fauja Singh Sarari, MLA from Guru Har Sahai, praised the Language Department's efforts to promote Punjabi culture and shared personal insights on preserving and honouring the Punjabi language daily.
The play delivered a sharp satire on fraudulent immigration agents exploiting people’s desire to go abroad, effectively blending humour with a critical message. Actors Anmoldeep Singh, Ramandeep Kaur, Narinderpal Singh, Saniya, and Karandeep captivated the audience with their performances. The play's theme resonated deeply with contemporary issues, making it both relevant and artistically compelling.
Dr. Jagdeep Sandhu, District Language Officer, briefed the audience about the department's initiatives and the importance of Punjabi Month 2024. Special recognition was given to prominent playwright Jagdev Dhillon and critic Dr Manjeet Kaur Azad for their literary contributions. Special acknowledgement was given to Jaspreet Kaur, District Language Officer, Kapurthala, for her gratitude and encouragement for the department’s initiatives in fostering Punjabi literature and art.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks, reiterating the department's commitment to promoting Punjabi heritage and culture.
