Chandigarh, November 24, 2024: To address the concern of labor shortage, Spain has announced significant reforms in its immigration policies.
Under its latest reforms, the country has extended the validity of the "job-seeking" visa, which allows for job searching in certain occupations and territorial areas, has been extended from 3 months to one year. The date for the implementation of this change has yet not been announced.
The job-seeking visa permits foreign nationals to enter Spain for the purpose of searching for employment. Upon securing a job, individuals may proceed with the required legal procedures to remain in the country.
The latest reforms will meet the needs of both the domestic labor market and the migrants themselves, and address the issue of the country's aging population.
Notably, the majority of the permits introduced in the recent reform allow individuals to start work immediately, eliminating the need to formally apply for an initial work authorization as an employee.
This provision extends to individuals migrating for educational purposes, who will be permitted to work up to 30 hours per week. This initiative fosters the inclusion of migrants and facilitates their integration into society.
