Ludhiana (Punjab), January 28, 2025: Rajya Sabha MP from Ludhiana Sanjeev Arora has written a letter to FM Nirmala Sitharaman requesting her to enhance MPLADS allocation to Rs.10 Crore in the upcoming Burget.
Giving this information here today, Arora said he mentioned in his communication that as we approach the upcoming budget, he would like to draw FM's attention to his earlier correspondence dated March 21 and October 29, 2023, demanding an increase in the allocation under the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) to Rs.10 Crore per MP per annum and request her kind consideration.
Arora further mentioned in his letter that the current allocation of Rs.5 Crore, set in 2011, is no longer sufficient to meet the growing developmental needs in constituencies of MPs. With increasing demands for infrastructure, healthcare, education, sanitation and considering the inflation effect for the last 14 years, an enhanced MPLADS Fund would empower MPs to undertake more comprehensive projects that directly benefit the people.
Arora hoped that his suggestions will be accepted and implemented in the upcoming Union Budget in the larger public interest.
