EC Raids Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann’s Residence in Delhi
New Delhi, January 30, 2025: The Election Commission (EC) conducted a raid at Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s official residence in Delhi. A team from the EC arrived at Kapurthala House to carry out the search operation.
Delhi Police officials were also present during the raid. Further details on the development are awaited.
Meanwhile, Bhagwant Mann was in Delhi at the time of the raid and was seen campaigning for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.
The raid was led by Returning Officer OP Pandey, who confirmed that the action was taken in response to a complaint. He stated that complaints must be addressed within 100 minutes, prompting the immediate visit by the EC team.
As of now, the Election Commission team remains stationed outside Kapurthala House, with further developments awaited.
As per the Election Commission, the complaint was received via the cVIGIL app, a platform where any citizen can report alleged violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). As per standard protocol, the Flying Squad Team (FST) of New Delhi AC, stationed nearby was assigned the task by the Control Room to investigate the complaint and close it by taking appropriate action within the stipulated 100-minute timeframe.
Upon receiving the complaint, the FST promptly reached the location of the alleged violation at Kapurthala House. However, the team is not being permitted by the security personnel to enter the premises to verify the complaint.
