210 NCC Cadets embark on 12-Day Military Camp, Gaining hands-On training and insights into Army Life
Jalandhar : 28 January 2025: 210 senior division cadets of the Jalandhar NCC Group, along with the Sikh Light Infantry Battalion, are participating in a 12-day military camp at Jalandhar Cantt. The cadets visited the aviation squadron and gained detailed knowledge about helicopters like Chetak, Cheetah, and Dhruv. The helicopter pilots provided the cadets with comprehensive information about the functionality, flight, and speed of the helicopters.
Brigadier H.B. Singh, Brigade Commander, addressed the cadets about military training, the various departments of the armed forces, and their roles in warfare. The Engineer Regiment explained the role of nuclear, biological, and chemical warfare suits to the cadets, and some cadets even tried on the suits.
Inter-platoon debate and extempore speech competitions were organized among the cadets. Captain Arnish Sehgal, Officer-in-Charge, explained that in forward war zones and disaster management, soldiers are lowered from helicopters from a height of 100 meters to launch surprise attacks on the enemy. He also mentioned that during floods and tsunamis, civilian assistance is provided through slithering operations from helicopters.
Colonel Vinod Joshi, Commanding Officer of the 2 Punjab NCC Battalion, stated that activities such as basketball, volleyball, and tug-of-war competitions are being organized to enhance the physical and mental strength of the cadets. The cadets are being given a taste of military life within these 12 days.
Brigadier Ajay Tiwari, Sena Medal, Group Commander NCC Jalandhar, said this is the third army attachment camp for the cadets, and they are learning a lot from the military camp. Some of these cadets will become military officers in the coming months. To ensure coordination between the army and NCC in training and administrative activities, Naib Subedar Kuldeep Singh and CHM Gurvinder Singh have been deployed, who are working shoulder to shoulder with the cadets.
