Chandigarh, January 29, 2025- Haryana Minister for Energy, Transport, and Labour, Anil Vij said that a tracking app will soon be developed to modernize the functioning of the Transport Department. He said that work on this app is already in progress, and he has directed the officers of the transport department to take necessary steps.
Vij was interacting with the media persons in Chandigarh today.Speaking to the media persons, the Minister said that the transport app will provide complete details about bus schedules, including arrival and departure times.
The app will be available on mobile phones, allowing people to check when Haryana Roadways buses are arriving and how long it will take for a particular bus to reach their location.
He emphasised that the app will benefit both passengers and the department, as travelers will no longer need to opt for alternative transport when they know a bus is arriving.
The Transport Minister further said that various key initiatives are being taken to improve facilities at bus stations/stops, ensuring good-quality food and beverages.
Initially, five bus stations in Haryana will have food and beverage services provided by the Haryana Tourism Department.He said that a proposal has been sent to the government to start this as a pilot project. If successful, the project will be expanded further.
Alternatively, a corporation model, similar to the railway system, may be introduced to ensure quality food services for travelers, said Anil Vij.
The Energy Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to providing clean toilets and rest areas at bus stations and other convenient locations.He said that the government is working swiftly to implement these services.The Transport Minister said that the state’s bus stations will be modernized.
Display boards will be installed at every bus station to provide real-time information on bus arrivals and departures. The state government is working on several transformational changes to improve bus stations' infrastructure.
Anil said that an 800 MW thermal power plant will be established in Yamunanagar, and a formal letter has been written to BHEL to commence work.
