Punjab Govt to build 1,000 ultra-modern Anganwadi Centers for Women and Child Development; View Pics

Chandigarh, March 15, 2025 – In a significant step toward the holistic development of women and children, the Punjab Government is constructing 1,000 ultra-modern Anganwadi centers across the state.
Social Security, Women, and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur announced the initiative, highlighting the government's commitment to strengthening early childhood care and nutrition services.Dr. Kaur revealed that the government has allocated ₹100 crore for the project, with each Anganwadi center being built at a cost of ₹10 lakh.

The funds are also being used to equip the centers with essential infrastructure, including flooring, painting, plumbing, electrification, and woodwork, ensuring a safe and well-equipped learning environment for children and support services for women.
The Rural Development Department is overseeing the construction, and 111 centers have already been completed, while work on the remaining ones is in full swing.
To ensure timely completion and quality control, district-level monitoring committees have been formed to regularly review progress.

"This initiative reflects the Punjab Government’s dedication to enhancing the infrastructure of Anganwadi centers, ultimately improving nutrition, early education, and childcare services across the state," said Dr. Kaur.
With this large-scale initiative, Punjab aims to set new benchmarks for early childhood care and strengthen support systems for women, ensuring a healthier and brighter future for the next generation.
