Oral Health Check-up Camp organized for World Oral Health Day at Old Age Home & Gurukul
Ferozepur, March 20, 2025: To mark World Oral Health Day, an awareness seminar and special oral health check-up camp were organized at the Old Age Home and Gurukul, under the tutelage of Civil Surgeon Dr. Rajwinder Kaur, and led by Dr. Naveen Sethi, Deputy Medical Commissioner, and Dr. Pankaj Gupta, Deputy Director of Dental Health,
Dr. Pankaj Gupta, a specialist in dental health, highlighted the importance of spreading awareness about oral health and encouraged everyone to make every possible effort to maintain a healthy mouth. He mentioned that infection in the mouth could contaminate the food we chew, potentially leading to various illnesses. Awareness and screening camps for oral health were also conducted at government health institutions across the district.
District Mass Media Officer Sanjeev Sharma emphasized the significance of brushing teeth at least twice daily and consuming fresh and digestible foods like fruits, leafy vegetables, and whole grains. He advised avoiding sweet and processed foods and ensuring an annual dental check-up to detect and address any oral health issues promptly.
Deputy MMO, Ankush Bhandari stated that oral and dental care is the foundation of good health. Common dental problems like bleeding gums, bad breath, discoloration, sensitivity, and pain can be prevented and treated effectively if addressed in time. He also spoke about the prevention, treatment, and awareness of oral diseases, including oral cancer.
During the event, dental check-ups were conducted for the elderly residents of the Old Age Home and students of Gurukul, with necessary medicines and fruits distributed to participants. Multitasking Health Worker Amarjeet Singh was also present on the occasion.
