Ludhiana West gears up for crucial by-poll: 194 polling parties deployed, special booths set for inclusive voting

Ludhiana (Punjab), June 18, 2025 – All arrangements have been finalized for the much-anticipated Ludhiana West Assembly by-election, scheduled for Thursday, June 19.
A total of 175,469 voters, including 90,088 men, 85,371 women, and 10 third-gender electors, will cast their votes to decide the fate of 14 candidates contesting this keenly watched electoral battle.
In a significant show of preparedness, 194 polling parties, accompanied by adequate security personnel, were today dispatched from Khalsa College for Girls, Ludhiana, to their respective polling stations. Each polling team has been provided with GPS-enabled vehicles to ensure secure and trackable movement.
A total of 776 personnel have been deployed to conduct the election in a free, fair, and peaceful manner.
District Election Officer (DEO) Himanshu Jain, who personally oversaw the deployment process, emphasized the importance of a smooth and transparentpolling experience.
“There is a big responsibility on the shoulders of each polling officer. I urge all staff to perform their duties with integrity and dedication so that voters can exercise their rights without any inconvenience,” said Jain.
To enhance the voting experience and encourage higher participation, the administration has made extensive arrangements at all polling booths.
These include:
- Tents, fans, chairs, and cold drinking water
- Wheelchairs and ramps for persons with disabilities (PWD)
- 10 model polling booths offering exemplary facilities
- One Pink Booth managed by an all-women team
- One Green Booth promoting environmental awareness
- One exclusive PWD-friendly booth
These measures are aimed at ensuring an inclusive, accessible, and voter-centric election process.
Urging voters to turn out in large numbers, DEO Himanshu Jain said, “I appeal to the people of Ludhiana West to come out and vote enthusiastically. Let us set a new benchmark in voter turnout and reaffirm our commitment to democracy.”
The voting will take place between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM, and security arrangements have been tightened to prevent any untoward incidents. Officials have assured that polling staff will receive full support throughout the day to ensure seamless execution of duties.
With political stakes running high and comprehensive groundwork laid down, Ludhiana West is all set for a peaceful and impactful election day on Thursday.
