New Govt buildings in Punjab to be modern, inclusive and green: PWD Minister ETO

Chandigarh, July 9, 2025:The Public Works & Power Minister, S. Harbhajan Singh ETO, held a review meeting of the Department of Architecture today in Chandigarh.
The review included a detailed presentation on the department’s key initiatives, proposed infrastructure improvements, and collaboration with PWD and other government departments on sustainable building designs and urban planning.
The meeting was attended by Chief Architect Tarun Garg, Additional Chief Architect, Saroj, and other senior functionaries of the Architecture Department.
The Minister took a keen interest in the contemporary designs and concepts of stadiums, hospitals, and other public buildings being developed by the department.
A comprehensive presentation was made on the department’s key initiatives, ongoing architectural projects, upcoming proposals, and its collaboration with PWD on sustainable and innovative building designs.
Public Works Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO instructed department officials that the design of new government buildings being constructed in the state should be modern, innovative, and suitable for the differently-abled.
He also interacted with the newly recruited Assistant Architects in the department.
The Minister encouraged the young officers to focus on sustainable, energy-efficient, and green buildings. He also inquired about the challenges being faced by the Architecture Department and advised officials to approach him directly for any assistance.
