Weather Alert: Red alert issued in Punjab till 2 pm, residents in these districts advised to stay cautious

Chandigarh, July 14, 2025: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Red Alert for several districts in Punjab, warning of heavy rainfall, strong winds (30–40 km/h), and the possibility of lightning until 2 PM on Monday.
Districts Under Red Alert:
- Ludhiana, Mohali, Patiala, Barnala, Sangrur
- SAS Nagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Sri Muktsar Sahib
- Fazilka, Moga, Faridkot, Ferozepur
Citizens in these regions are urged to take precautions as sudden weather changes could lead to lightning strikes and damage from strong winds.
IMD Safety Advisory:
- Avoid going outdoors unnecessarily
- Stay away from open fields and high grounds
- Keep children and the elderly in safe indoor areas
- Refrain from using electronic appliances like TV, mobile phones during lightning
- Contact local authorities in case of emergency
Meanwhile, Rajasthan is expected to witness very heavy rains on July 14 and 15, which may lead to waterlogging, flooded roads, and power outages in several districts.
The IMD has also predicted heavy rainfall in parts of Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh until July 17. Weather conditions in these areas are likely to remain unstable.
