Chandigarh, July 27, 2025: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Member of Parliament Malvinder Singh Kang has appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal to engage in constructive dialogue with farmer unions before proceeding further on the proposed Land Pooling Policy.
In a post shared on his official Facebook handle, Kang emphasized the need to take farmers into confidence and address their objections with “empathy and meaningful dialogue.”
"The objections raised by farmer unions on the Land Pooling Policy must, in my view, be heard with empathy and addressed through meaningful dialogue," Kang stated.
Highlighting the pro-farmer steps taken by the Mann government over the last three years, Kang mentioned uninterrupted agricultural power supply, extended canal water access, expedited mandi reforms, and promotion of crop diversification.
However, he asserted that trust must be earned, not assumed, before any such policy is implemented.
"On this too, trust must be earned—not assumed—before any policy takes root," he added, tagging @AAPPunjab in his post.
The Land Pooling Policy has recently drawn criticism from various farmer unions, who fear displacement and corporatisation of agriculture. Kang’s statement signals a growing call within AAP’s leadership for dialogue-based policy making.
