Chandigarh, December 8, 2025: Senior SGPC member and prominent Panthic personality Bibi Kiranjot Kaur has strongly criticized those Sikhs who are supporting the police investigation in the case of 328 missing saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, calling it an unnecessary and politically driven interference in Sikh religious affairs.
In a sharp statement, Kiranjot Kaur said that neither the SGPC nor the commission formed by Sri Akal Takht Sahib conducted a fully serious or thorough inquiry. However, she asserted with certainty that no beadbi (sacrilege) occurred.
“There was negligence in accounting, but if sacrilege had happened, it would have surfaced by now,” she said.
She condemned the Punjab Government for imposing Sections 295 and 295-A on the SGPC, calling it “pure politics on a sensitive religious issue.”
Questioning the role of the police, she asked:
“What will the police find? Will they visit every place where prakash is done and check each bir? Will non-Sikh officers teach the SGPC about maryada?”
Kiranjot Kaur criticized those Sikhs who, in her words, “have handed over their paggs to the government,” saying it raises questions about their loyalty to Sikh principles.
She further stated that if the SGPC president had handled the matter responsibly from the beginning, “these days of embarrassment would not have come.”
She also alleged that several SGPC employees were unfairly targeted and not given a chance to be heard.
