Railway takes multiple measures to ensure trains punctuality and safety during fog
Ferozepur, December 11, 2025: Ferozepur Rail Division has implemented several measures to maintain safe and smooth train operations during foggy conditions. To enhance safety levels affected by low visibility, loco pilots have been equipped with reliable safety devices known as Fog Safety Devices. These devices inform the loco pilots about the locations of upcoming signals, helping them control train speeds effectively.
Alongside this, all loco pilots have been provided with Signal Location Booklets to aid signal awareness. The pilots strictly adhere to safety precautions and drive trains at speeds that allow full control despite reduced visibility during fog.
Safety equipment such as flares have also been distributed to all safety-related railway personnel. Several safety enhancements have been made including lime markings on the tracks before signals, reflective Sigma boards on electric poles, and yellow reflective sign strips at busy level crossings. These steps are crucial from a safety perspective.
Reliable and uninterrupted power supply for signaling equipment is being ensured. Maintenance staff working on tracks are provided with reflective jackets, protective clothing, and torchlights to ensure their safety.
Night track patrolling has been started during cold weather across different sections of the railway. If any irregularity is detected, it is promptly reported to concerned officials for swift action. Patrolling teams, comprising two railway employees, start from both ends between two stations and inspect tracks with GPS-based tools. They exchange signatures in patrol registers midway to maintain accountability.
Furthermore, daily inspections and awareness sessions at the officer and supervisor levels are being conducted during fog periods to boost vigilance among operational and maintenance staff.
Ferozepur Rail Division remains committed to ensuring safe and secure train operations during foggy conditions, said DRM.
