Animal Husbandry Dept organises Animal Welfare and Awareness Camp in Fattu Wala Village
Ferozepur, February 2, 2026: The Department of Animal Husbandry organized an animal welfare and awareness camp in Village Fattu Wala, under the guidance of Punjab Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development Minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian, Principal Secretary Rahul Bhandari, Director Animal Husbandry Department Parmdeep Singh Walia, and SDM Ferozepur Ms Lindhia.
During the camp, Dr. Gurvinder Singh, Senior Veterinary Officer, provided detailed information on sexed semen and shared key tips for increasing milk production in animals while maintaining their health. He explained in depth the issues of animals not conceiving, such as angstroms and repeat breeding.
He also educated livestock farmers about necessary changes in green fodder and feed according to seasonal variations.
Dr. Isha Sekhri, Veterinary Officer, elaborated on the benefits of the Kisan Credit Card scheme for livestock farmers. Gagan from the Lead Bank explained the bank’s verification and inspection processes and answered farmers’ queries. Dr. Isha Sekhri further informed participants about the symptoms of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) and urged them to ensure timely vaccination as per government guidelines.
Dr. Neeraj Grover, Veterinary Officer (Khayi Fame Ki), shared information on Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD), noting that vaccination against it is starting from February with an appeal to farmers to vaccinate their cows promptly and also discussed Hemorrhagic Septicemia (galghotu) and animal care during changing weather conditions.
Dr. Shikha, Veterinary Officer (Bootewala), provided detailed information on the symptoms of Brucellosis and the importance of vaccination for prevention.
The camp was attended by Veterinary Inspector Simranjit Kaur (Jhok Harihar), Gur Sewak Singh (Khayi Fame Ki), Tilak Raj (Grade IV, Khayi Fame Ki), and Kanhaiya Lal, who made special contributions to organizing the event.
Around 50 livestock farmers participated in the camp. They sought information on common animal health issues and diseases, received answers to their queries, and gained awareness about the Kisan Credit Card scheme. The camp aimed to empower farmers with knowledge for better animal health management and productivity.
